3 Months

Can you believe that we have had Amelia for 3 months now?!  There are days that it seems that she has always been with us, and other days where I think, "I have a baby!".  I can hardly believe that Amelia is our daughter.  It has been a joy to watch her grow and change each day that she has been with us.  We are truly grateful to God for bringing this precious child into our lives.

Over the past month:

- Amelia has become a professional walker and has learned to get into EVERYTHING with her new skill.  She wiggles out of my arms any chance she gets to take a little walk (or run) whenever she gets the chance.
- Her vocabulary is increasing, although I do wish that she was using more words or signs.  Fun new words that she can say now in her little language (that we are able to understand) are koala, yogurt, cookie, chicken, I love you, teeth, belly, shoe, sock, diaper, eat, snack, more, please, car, and ouch.
- Amelia continues to LOVE her big brother, Bailey.  We still keep them apart (more for his safety now than hers), but he is always with us for meals, and there are times when we are able to take him for walks.
- She can identify the following animals and their sounds (if we knew what sound they make): koala, cat, dog, cow, and duck.
- We are still working on her naming her body parts, but she can point to the following body parts when you ask her where they are: eyes, nose, mouth, teeth, belly (or tummy), and foot.
- Amelia is still obsessed with food, but it is getting better.  I am now actually able to cook without her pitching an absolute fit while pulling on my pants leg.  I have even let her help cook with me some (cookies and bread).  She really likes to add ingredients to the bowl and try to stir them around.
- Household chores are a favorite.  She is a huge help with throwing things away, emptying the dishwasher, and helping with laundry.  She also has learned how to use the Swiffer vac and gets great joy out of turning it on and pushing it around the house.
- Baths are most definitely one of the best times of the day.  She LOVES them so much!  She gets very excited when she hears that it is time to take a bath and will run to the stairs.  She could stay in the bathtub forever!  Lately, Amelia has been trying to stick her face in the water and swim.  I'm not sure where that has come from, but it looks like swimming lessons will be in our very near future.
- Amelia survived her first big family vacation and had a great time.  She really seemed to miss having everyone in the same house when she woke up the first two days after we were home.  She would ask for Poppy and PawPaw and then point to different family members in a family picture that I have.  She was very excited to see Uncle Will and Aunt Toni when she woke up from her nap on Friday.  They came by for a minute as they were headed out of town.  We had to see Poppy and PawPaw on Saturday so that she could get a little time in with them.

We are looking forward to spending our first Easter together and have started teaching Amelia how to hunt for eggs.  I'm not sure how hunting for eggs inside the keeping room inside our house is going to transfer to hunting for eggs outside in the grass and trees, but we will see what happens.

We continue to be amazed at all that Amelia has learned in the few months that she has been home and are so thankful for the continued support of family and friends who are experiencing this journey with us!

Tomorrow, Amelia will have her first babysitters at our house.  David and I will celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary.  Poppy and PawPaw have graciously volunteered to watch Amelia for us while we go out to dinner.  They seem to be super excited about it.  They will be in charge of feeding, bathing, and putting the girl to bed.  I'm sure they will do great and am so thankful that they are willing to come to our house.  I know they would love for Amelia to be able to spend the night with them, but I think it is just way too soon for that right now.

This is a series of photos taken when Amelia learned that she could put two boxes together, climb on them, and be able to reach her snacks.  I have had to make sure to keep the pantry door closed every since. :)

I am TRULY BLESSED to be the mommy of such a precious girl!
