How can she possibly be 5 already? This question has been in my mind for the past week. Amelia is 5! She is a big girl now and will actually begin Kindergarten this year. How is this happening?
Since Amelia's birthday is during the summer, we began her birthday celebrations with a pretend birthday party at school before the end of the year.
Her birthday party took place at home again this year. I asked Amelia if she wanted to have a birthday party at a location, but she told me she would rather have it at home. She requested a mermaid themed party and sand art. Done and done.

Amelia was thrilled that Uncle Austin came from California for her party! |
Amelia's actual birthday was spent with a little time at school (her request not ours) in the morning and a visit to an eye specialist. She had a special test to check her optic nerve function.
Amelia was not a fan of having the electrodes hooked to her face and head, but she did much better than the doctor expected. She had to sit VERY still for quite a while. We took wiggle breaks, but it was still a lot for such an active little girl. The doctor was able to see that there is an issue, but we hope that making some changes to her current plan will help her brain correct things.
Amelia requested to eat at Full Moon for her birthday dinner with Poppy and Paw Paw. We stopped and picked up Baby Bites for dessert to go along with our BBQ and then went home for a bath and some presents before heading for dinner. Overall, I think she had a great day! And now she's 5!
A couple of weeks after Amelia's real birthday, she was able to celebrate at Mimi and Papa's house with the other family members who had birthdays in June and July.
