Trip to the Bahamas

Bright and early Monday morning, we headed to the airport for our long awaited trip to the Bahamas.  Amelia was THRILLED to be able to fly in an airplane to the BEACH!

Checking out the airplane while waiting to board

Amelia pulled her own suitcase through the airport.
Sitting in her seat ready to take off!

She switched seats halfway through the flight to sit with Poppy and PawPaw

Once we checked in to our rooms and explored the resort, we got our swimsuits on and headed to the beach.  On the way there, we got sidetracked by ice cream cones!

We made it to the beach and Amelia headed straight to the ocean with PawPaw and Daddy.

Puddle Jumper on and ready to swim in the ocean!

Once she tired of the sand and waves, Amelia requested to swim in the pool.  She loved it!

Ordering a strawberry smoothie at the swim-up pool bar with Daddy.

The first night, we went to the Japanese restaurant for dinner.  Amelia was so tired from her fun first day, that she fell asleep in my arms!  This is the second time she has EVER done this since we brought her home.  It was so sweet and I savored every.single.minute!

Once dinner was finished, I began to carry Amelia back to our room.  She woke up when we hit the lobby, so we decided to get an ice cream for dessert.  Amelia liked PawPaw's ice cream a lot!

Since Amelia had a second burst of energy, we went to check out some of the shops in town.  There were only a few open, but we enjoyed walking around after our dinner and dessert.

Shopping for cigars for Uncle Tommy

Amelia could NOT believe that this woman was using a Swiffer.  She kept telling the lady that she had a Swiffer at home, too.

The next morning, we had breakfast and headed out to shop a little more.  We had a lot of fun until Amelia needed to take a nap!

These little lizards were EVERYWHERE!

She was so tired that she slept for 3 hours!

After Amelia's nap,  Poppy and PawPaw went para-sailing!  The enjoyed it so much that they talked us into doing it the next day.

Poppy and PawPaw were still glowing at dinner after their adventure.

The view from our room.  Isn't it beautiful!
The next day brought another perfect time on the beach.  The weather was wonderful.  It wasn't humid or very hot, and there was a nice breeze the entire time.

After spending some time playing in the sand and water, David and I decided to take our para-sailing adventure.  It was amazing.  It was so peaceful and incredible to see a different view of the water and island.

That night, we happened upon a dance party.  Amelia LOVES to dance!  The music theme was "retro", so we danced and sang to the music.

The next morning, we had a fun time at breakfast.  Amelia loved trying to put PawPaw's sunglasses on him herself.  They were a little crooked...

Off to the straw market to shop for souvenirs.  Poppy bought Amelia a straw purse.  The lady in the following pictures is sewing Amelia's name onto the back of the purse.

After lunch and a nap, we went to the Kids Club.  This is where you can drop your children off to participate in activities, but we heard that they allowed families into their fun pool.  We decided to check it out, and it was SO MUCH FUN!

Daddy got soaked by the water bucket!  Amelia was terrified of the water falling on her!
On our last morning, we decided to take a few pictures on the beach.  Yes, we should have done this on a previous day at sunset, but we didn't think about it.  We decided to take a few snapshots, but the weather had turned HOT and very SUNNY!  It was much different than the perfect weather we had during the week.

After a morning on the beach and lunch, we reluctantly headed to our rooms to pack up our things.  We arrived at the airport shuttle right on time and were taken to our flight.  It was so sad to leave.

Amelia woke up this morning and asked, "Is it time to go to the beach yet?  Can we go right now?".  I hated to break her heart and tell her we can't go back to the beach until next month.  I am trying to focus her disappointment on her birthday now. :)

  1. I love the pictures Amelia. I can see you had a great time. Especially at the pool and eating ice cream! I want to go for ice cream with you soon too!
