Amelia's First Camping Experience

For the past month, David has been preparing Amelia for a camping trip.  They have shopped for tents, sleeping bags, and mattress pads.  Packages have been arriving at our front door for the past week with the anticipated items.  A practice set up took place this week in the playroom, and tonight is THE night of the first camp out in the backyard.  David decided to begin with baby steps.  The first of the baby steps is that the backyard will be the first camp site to make sure Amelia is close to a potty and her bed if she isn't able to make it all night.  The tent was set up this afternoon.  Amelia set up her sleeping bag and ran back and forth from the house carrying her pillow, blanket, Hello Kitty flashlight, and Mei Mei (dressed in her boots in case it was cold).  She put comfy fleece jammies on and counted down the minutes until dinner was eaten and medicine was taken.  Then, off she ran to the tent and practiced using her flashlight before preparing to climb into her sleeping bag.

Mei Mei is ready!

Lights Out

Goodnight my little campers.  I hope you make it out there all night!

Sunday Morning Update:
Amelia and David managed to stay in their tent ALL night!  They came in the house about 7:00 this morning.  David said Amelia seemed to have slept very well, but he kept waking up to check on her and make sure she wasn't cold.  It looks like there will be many more camping adventures for the two of them!
