The Gardener

Spring is finally here, and the pots on my front porch were in need of a makeover.  Amelia and I went to the store and bought some flowers, bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, and different herbs to plant this afternoon.  After her nap, we went outside to play in the dirt.  My child very much dislikes her hands to be dirty, so I was not sure how she would react to gardening.  Much to my surprise, she seemed to like it.  Amelia liked to take handfuls of dirt out of the bag and drop it in the pot.  She would then realize that she had dirt on her hands and panic.  I taught her how to wipe her hand in the grass to get the dirt off and that seemed to satisfy her.  Unfortunately, Amelia had no interest in putting the flowers in the dirt.  She liked transferring the dirt from the bag to the pot and watering the flowers that were planted.  The smart child that she is realized the shovel was faster than her hands, and she stayed cleaner.  She quickly overtook the shovel.  I actually found it later in her little cozy coupe.  To those who are wondering...YES, Amelia did try to taste the dirt.  She found that she wasn't too fond of it. :)

This is the moment she realized her hands were dirty.

This is when she came running towards me to clean her up.

As you can see from the pictures, Amelia and Bailey are learning to coexist.  They are still separated in the house, but I try to let them check each other out when we are outside.  They pretty much ignored each other today, which is fine by me!
