Christmas 2015

This Christmas is unfortunately a lot different than in the past.  This Christmas, we celebrate without RuRu.  RuRu went to live with Jesus the evening of December 21st.  In the midst of planning to tell her goodbye, we tried to make things as normal as possible for the children.  Instead of having our usual Christmas Eve brunch, we decided to eat lunch at a local restaurant and then head to Aunt Laurie's house to open presents.  The children had a wonderful time playing together.  Amelia has become very attached to cousin, Sarah.

Amelia's favorite gift was a Frozen wand that RuRu gave her.

After celebrating with Aunt Laurie, Uncle Ray, Benjamin, and Sarah, we went over to Baboo's house to exchange gifts with Grammy and Baboo.

Amelia loved the remote control car that Grammy gave her!

Once we arrived home, Amelia put on her Christmas jammies that Aunt Sue gave her (although it was 75 degrees outside and too hot for her to wear them).  She was allowed to open one gift from us before going to bed.

Amelia had a lot of trouble falling asleep, because she was so excited to see Santa.  She went to bed at 7:15 and was still awake at 9:30!  Santa almost missed our house completely!  Fortunately for her, she went to sleep right before he came.  Amelia slept until almost 9:00, so we had a late start to Christmas.

Once Christmas at our house was complete, we left for Christmas at Poppy and Paw Paw's house.  Paw Paw made a big breakfast and then we headed downstairs to open presents.

After coming home for a rest (instead of a nap because Amelia never actually went to sleep), we ran over to Mimi and Papa's house to exchange presents.  Amelia was able to wear the Frozen dress that Uncle Austin gave her for Christmas.  She and Hadley had the best time playing the piano together!  They were so cute!

Amelia left to spend the night with Poppy and Paw Paw, since we have to be in Tuscaloosa so early tomorrow for RuRu's funeral.  Amelia will have a fun time playing with Aunt Toni, Hadley, Aunt Karen, Ford, and Evie while we are gone.  It has been a bittersweet Christmas, but we enjoyed watching Amelia on this special holiday!
